The Couch to 5K plan

Over the last couple of months I have followed the C25K plan, as many 1,000’s have done before me, to help me start running and build up gradually to being able to run 3 miles non-stop. Apart from the info on the CoolRunning website I have come across a variety of other useful c25k related resources.
The UK’s National Health Service website has a free C25k podcast which you can download from iTunes and use to aid your training, it also has a range of other C25K related articles.
The Couchto5k.healthunlocked.com website is a forum used by lots of people following the C25K plan, they post their experiences, questions etc. Good one to keep yourself motivated.

There was also a recent article in the Telegraph reviewing the Go Couch to 5k iPhone app. Personally I haven’t used anything like this as I have the Garmin, but I can see how handy they could be.

To whet my appetite I have also discovered that there is a Couch to 10k programme. Which is designed for people who have graduated from the C25K programme and have been running 3-4 miles for at least 4 to 5 weeks afterwards. This introduces; fartlek’s, hill training, intervals and tempo runs. So I can see what I’ll be doing come December/January
